TD Ameritrade Essential/Selective Portfolios – Presales Experience
Early on in my career at TD Ameritrade, I had the opportunity to be the UX Lead for a project that involved rethinking the experience for opening a new robo advisor account. The existing experience was very form-based, and we wanted to provide a more comfortable, guided experience. The end result was a responsive web experience that is currently live at https://guidance.tdameritrade.com/.
Brainstorming
I got to work closely with the rest of the UX team on this project. We frequently brainstormed throughout the process, and I actually did some of the design work in Sketch with the rest of the team behind me, chiming in.

Sketching
Pencil and paper were my primary tools for beginning to explore this new account opening experience. I tried out several approaches before going digital.

Prototyping & User Research
I created an Axure prototype, which was used by our research team in a usability test. The findings helped inform my design decisions moving forward.

Final Designs
I worked with a visual designer to refine the designs, making sure to account for various device sizes. I also collaborated with development as they built the new experience.
